The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inclusive education and ensuring that every child, regardless of ability, has access to quality education and opportunities to thrive.
The commitment was highlighted during a visit by a student of Sango Senior Secondary (Inclusive) School, Sango-Ota, Michael Oluwadamilare, who presented a beautifully crafted portrait of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja.
The artwork, which bore a striking resemblance to the Permanent Secretary, drew admiration from officials present and showcased the student’s exceptional artistic talent.
Receiving the portrait, Dokunmu-Adegbite commended Michael for his creativity and dedication, while also applauding the school’s teachers and management for nurturing the talents of students in an inclusive learning environment.
She reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to creating opportunities that enable every child to discover, develop and maximise their unique potential.
The Permanent Secretary stressed that inclusive education remains central to the state’s vision of ensuring that no child is left behind, adding that learners, irrespective of their physical, sensory or learning challenges, deserve the support needed to excel academically and personally.
She noted that the student’s remarkable achievement reflects the transformative impact of inclusive education and demonstrates what children can accomplish when provided with equal opportunities and the right support.
Members of the visiting delegation included the Principal of Sango Senior Secondary (Inclusive) School, Mrs. Elizabeth Balogun; the Fine Art teacher, Mr. Akinola Oluwatobi; and the School Interpreter, Mrs. Morufat Soyemi.
