Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, have settled into their camp in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of the WAFU B U-20 Championship.
The team arrived in Abidjan before making the 235-kilometre journey to Yamoussoukro, where preparations for the tournament are now in full swing.
Under the supervision of head coach Abdul Maikaba, the Flying Eagles held their first training session in Yamoussoukro on Tuesday evening.
The session, held at the INJS training pitch, focused primarily on fitness recovery after Monday’s road trip from Abidjan.
All 23 players participated in the one-hour, 30-minute workout as the coaching crew assessed the squad’s fitness levels.
The session also marked the team’s first training outside Nigeria since Maikaba assumed charge of the Flying Eagles.
The seven-time African champions are scheduled to return to the training pitch on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. local time (5:00 p.m. Nigerian time) as they intensify preparations for their opening match at the tournament.
