The Super Falcons’ camp in Casablanca received a boost on Tuesday as the number of players at the team’s Marriott Hotel base increased to 23 following the arrival of forward Folashade Ijamilusi.
Ijamilusi, who plays for Liaoning Shenyang Shenbei Hefeng in the Chinese Women’s Super League, arrived in Casablanca shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday after completing her club commitments in China.
The former Nigeria youth international was one of the standout performers at the last edition of the tournament, scoring twice, including the Super Falcons’ equaliser in their dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco in the final.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was forced to secure fresh flight tickets for midfielder Deborah Abiodun and forward Gift Monday after their scheduled flight from the United States was cancelled due to technical issues.
The duo had already arrived at the airport before being informed that their flight had been cancelled. They are expected to join the squad once their travel arrangements are completed.
The 10-time African champions and defending title holders have continued intensive training at the La Noria Club in Casablanca as they prepare for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The team will later move to Morocco’s administrative capital, Rabat, where they will play their Group C fixtures against Malawi, Egypt and Zambia.
The mandatory team arrival meeting with officials of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) is scheduled for Friday, July 25, before the Super Falcons open their campaign against Malawi on Tuesday next week.
