The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Monday honoured an invitation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as part of an ongoing investigation into the activities of the alleged fake agency known as the “PFIPC.”
Gbajabiamila’s lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Monday, saying his client appeared before the anti-graft commission at about 3:00 p.m. in compliance with the invitation.
According to Ogunye, the Chief of Staff fully cooperated with investigators, gave his testimony and responded to questions relating to the probe before returning to his official duties.
He stated that Gbajabiamila’s appearance before the commission was in line with the directive of President Bola Tinubu that public officials should cooperate with lawful investigations.
“My client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and appeared at about 15:00hrs on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others. My client gave his testimony, responded to questions accordingly, and has returned to his duty post,” the statement read.
The ICPC has yet to issue an official statement on the outcome of the session or provide further details on the investigation.
The appearance comes amid the widening probe into the PFIPC, a body the Presidency has described as fictitious. Its self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, had initially alleged that Gbajabiamila issued him an appointment letter and later distanced himself from the agency after he refused to meet certain demands.
However, Adeyemi later moderated his claims, saying he could not state with certainty whether the Chief of Staff was involved in his appointment. He also admitted he never met Gbajabiamila physically and could not confirm the identity of the person he claimed to have spoken with by telephone.
