Netherlands Beat Tunisia 3-1 To Top Group F

Two early goals inside the opening seven minutes powered the Netherlands to a comfortable 3-1 victory over Tunisia, securing top spot in Group F.

The result sets up a Round of 32 clash with Group C runners-up and 2022 World Cup semi-finalists Morocco in Monterrey on Tuesday.

Ronald Koeman’s side made a dream start, taking the lead in the third minute when Tunisia captain Ellyes Skhiri inadvertently turned Denzel Dumfries’ cross into his own net.

Sunderland forward Brian Brobbey doubled the advantage just four minutes later, scoring his third goal of the tournament with a simple tap-in after Virgil van Dijk headed a cross back across the face of goal.

The Dutch dominated proceedings for much of the match, controlling possession and creating chances with ease against an uninspired Tunisia side that struggled to contain their attacking movement.

Tunisia pulled a goal back in the second half after a defensive lapse from the Netherlands. Manchester City’s Tijjani Reijnders lost his marker at a corner, allowing Hazem Mastouri to head into the bottom corner.

However, the Netherlands quickly restored their two-goal cushion. Jan Paul van Hecke rose highest to meet a corner at the near post, with his header taking a slight deflection off a Tunisia defender before beating the goalkeeper.

Tunisia finished bottom of Group F after losing all three of their matches and conceding 12 goals, while the Netherlands advanced to the knockout stage as group winners.
