….promises new deal for Nigeria’s future
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has unveiled a vision for Nigeria focused on ending poverty, unemployment, insecurity and infrastructure deficits through a people-centred social democratic agenda.
Adebayo, a lawyer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, said his goal is to build a Nigeria driven by merit, accountable leadership, human capital development, rule-based markets, infrastructure and full employment.
The Ondo State-born politician said his commitment to social democracy began in 1991, when he joined the SDP as a 19-year-old after studying its manifesto on education, healthcare, housing and infrastructure.
His philanthropic work includes sponsoring about 2,000 students and supporting hundreds of women through empowerment programmes.
At the centre of his 2027 agenda is a pledge to enforce Chapter Two of the Constitution and redirect public resources to education, healthcare, housing and security. He also promised to pursue full employment, with a target of 30 million jobs through agriculture, manufacturing, digital innovation and enterprise development.
Adebayo said his administration would focus on clean government, productivity, transparent markets, judicial independence and job creation. He also described Nigeria’s $1 trillion infrastructure gap as an investment opportunity and said the country could become Africa’s top investment destination through the rule of law and strong institutions.
His youth agenda includes enrolling 20 million out-of-school children, setting up entrepreneurship centres, modernising agriculture, promoting sports and training five million young people in green technology.
He also pledged to expand opportunities for women and said Nigeria’s future can be reversed within a generation through competent leadership and social investment.
