Ogun 2027: Adeola Unveils Adegunwa-Balogun As Running Mate

 

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as YAYI, has unveiled Mrs. Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun as his running mate ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.

Adeola announced the choice of his deputy governorship candidate on Sunday through a post on his official Facebook page, formally introducing Adegunwa-Balogun to party members, supporters, and the people of Ogun State.

In the post, the senator wrote: “To God be the glory, Mrs. Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun is my Deputy Governorship candidate for the Ogun governorship race,” confirming widespread speculation about his choice of running mate.

Mrs. Adegunwa-Balogun, 51, is a seasoned finance professional with an impressive academic and professional background spanning several decades in the corporate sector.

She holds fellowships of both the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), underscoring her expertise in accounting, financial management, and corporate governance.

Her educational profile is further strengthened by executive leadership programmes completed at the Harvard Business School and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, two of the world’s leading business institutions.

Professionally, Adegunwa-Balogun served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Executive Director of Finance and Administration at Rite Foods Limited, the manufacturer of popular brands including Bigi soft drinks, Fearless Energy Drink, and Rite Sausages. She is bringing more than two decades of private sector experience in finance, administration, strategy, and corporate governance to the political arena.

Beyond her corporate accomplishments, she is actively involved in grassroots initiatives focused on women’s empowerment, youth development, and economic inclusion. Her emergence as Adeola’s running mate is expected to strengthen the APC ticket as preparations intensify for the 2027 governorship contest in Ogun State.
