Bruno Fernandes Wins Top EPL Honour

Bruno Fernandes, captain of Manchester United, has been named the Premier League Player of the Season after an outstanding campaign for the Red Devils.

The Portugal international added another major individual honour to his collection after also being named the Football Writers’ Association Men’s Player of the Year earlier this month.

Fernandes matched the record for the highest number of assists in a single Premier League season after registering his 20th assist in United’s recent clash against Nottingham Forest last weekend.

The midfielder has also contributed eight goals in 37 league appearances, playing a key role in helping Manchester United finish third on the table and secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Statistics from the campaign further underline Fernandes’ influence, as he created 132 chances throughout the season — the highest by any player in the Premier League.

His total chances created placed him well ahead of the next closest player, Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool FC, with a difference of 43 chances.

Fernandes also became the first Manchester United player to win the prestigious award since former Serbian defender Nemanja Vidić claimed the honour in 2011. The winner was determined through a combination of public votes and selections from a panel of football experts.

Other players shortlisted for the award included David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, Declan Rice, Erling Haaland, Antoine Semenyo, Igor Thiago and Morgan Gibbs-White, while Manchester United will round off their season away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
