Team Nigeria has emerged as the dominant force at the ongoing 2026 Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) Para-Track and Track African Championships at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome in Abuja.

The championship has attracted elite cyclists from across the continent, including powerhouse nations such as Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, Algeria, and host nation Nigeria.

After two days of intense competition, Nigeria leads the medals table with an impressive haul of 16 medals — comprising nine gold, five silver, and two bronze medals. The outstanding performance places the host nation ahead of Egypt, Kenya, South Africa, and Algeria, further underlining Nigeria’s growing dominance and rising profile in African cycling.

Egypt occupies second position on the medals table with 14 medals, while Kenya sits third with nine medals. South Africa and Algeria complete the top five.

Team Nigeria’s cyclists have thrilled home supporters at the velodrome with displays of speed, endurance, technical brilliance, and determination throughout the competition.

The championships have also continued to showcase the quality of facilities at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome, which has received widespread praise, while providing a platform for African cyclists to compete at the highest level.

Nigeria previously hosted the 2021 and 2023 editions of the competition. For this year’s championship, more than 100 cyclists from eight countries arrived in the country to compete for medals, pride, and glory.
