Edun Urges Focus, Pride As Boxers Head To Accra

The President of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF), Hon. Wale Edun, has urged Nigerian boxers to put up strong performances in Thursday’s friendly tournament against their Ghanaian counterparts in Accra.
Edun delivered the charge on Monday while addressing the pugilists at the national camp in Lagos.
He encouraged the athletes to remain focused in training and represent the country with pride during their trip to Ghana.
“Firstly, I want you all to be conscious of the national flag you carry and uphold it with pride. The rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana is well known, and despite this being a friendly match, you must fight for the honour of our nation,” Edun said.
A 17-man contingent comprising boxers, coaches, and officials is scheduled to depart for Accra from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6.
The bilateral tournament, aimed at assessing the athletes’ performance and readiness ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, will take place on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
