The Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has commended workers across the state for their contributions to economic growth and development as Nigeria marks Workers’ Day.
In a statement issued on Friday to commemorate the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, Ojelabi described workers as the “lifeblood” of Lagos, noting that their dedication and resilience have sustained the state’s reputation as a dynamic and progressive hub.
He praised workers for their sacrifices and commitment, stating that their efforts have been instrumental in the achievements recorded in Lagos since the return to democratic governance.
According to him, the workforce remains the backbone of the state’s development and a critical driver of its continued growth.
The APC chairman also acknowledged the role of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in fostering an enabling environment for workers to thrive.
Ojelabi reiterated the party’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, including the prompt payment of wages and the promotion of labour practices that align with global standards. He added that the APC-led government would continue to prioritise policies that enhance productivity and ensure fair treatment of workers.
He further commended Lagos workers across all sectors, including youths, women and men, for their unwavering dedication to nation-building, describing their contributions as invaluable to both the state and national economy.
Ojelabi expressed optimism that with sustained collaboration between government and the workforce, Lagos would continue on the path of stability and prosperity, while contributing significantly to the growth of Nigeria.
