The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday inaugurated its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee, tasking them with the responsibility of conducting and adjudicating on complaints, petitions, and appeals arising from the federation’s elections for the 2026–2030 executive term.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja, NFF President, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, charged members of the committees to carry out their duties with integrity, fairness, and without bias toward any candidate.
Responding on behalf of the committees, Matthew Burka’a assured stakeholders that both bodies would approach the assignment with utmost seriousness and professionalism to deliver a credible electoral process.
He emphasized the committees’ commitment to conducting a free, fair, and transparent election that would stand as a benchmark for future polls within Nigerian football and beyond.
Burka’a further noted the level of global attention on the exercise, referencing key football authorities such as FIFA and Confederation of African Football, alongside the Nigerian football community, adding that the committees are determined to meet expectations.
The NFF president also announced the composition of the Electoral Committee, which includes Burka’a, Alhaji Babagoni Grema, Alhaji Bature Musa, Ayibaye Peter Great Temedie, and Hon. (Dr) Akogun Olugbenga Omole, with Arinze Azubuike Anughele and Abayomi Akin Omoyimi serving as alternate members.
Similarly, the Electoral Appeals Committee comprises Hon. Justice C. J. Aneke, Barr. Benjamin Sati, and Professor Abdulmalik Awwal, while FIFA Emmanuel Dada Obafemi and Ayi Ekpo Ukpayam will serve as alternate members.
In line with NFF statutes, the federation’s General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, will serve as secretary to both committees, while the elections into the NFF Executive Committee are scheduled to take place in Lafia on Saturday, September 26.
