Galatasaray have confirmed that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen suffered a fracture to his right forearm and will undergo further evaluation to determine whether surgery is necessary.
Osimhen was forced to leave the field at halftime during Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool.
A statement released by the Turkish club on social media said the 27-year-old’s arm has been placed in a cast, with medical assessments in the coming days set to decide if an operation is required.
His Galatasaray teammate, Noa Lang, also sustained a serious cut to his right thumb during the same match and is scheduled to undergo surgery in Liverpool.
The match ended in a 4-0 defeat for Galatasaray, resulting in a 4-1 aggregate loss to Liverpool and their elimination from the Champions League.
The injury news comes as a major blow for Galatasaray, who had hoped to make a strong showing in Europe this season.
