Adetola Takes Over As Lagos Accountant-General After Muritala’s Retirement

 

 

 

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has approved the redeployment of Mr. Adetola Muyiwa John, as the new Accountant-General of the state and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office (STO).

The appointment follows the statutory retirement of the outgoing Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary, Dr. Abiodun Muritala.

According to an official circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Adetola was redeployed from the Office of the State Auditor-General, where he previously served as State Auditor-General. The circular stated that the redeployment takes immediate effect from Monday, March 2, 2026.

The Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, while congratulating Adetola on his new assignment, urged all stakeholders to give the directive the necessary support and cooperation to ensure a seamless transition.

The redeployment, according to the government, reflects its commitment to sustaining efficiency, accountability, and continuity in public financial management.
