President Bola Tinubu has nominated Mr Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Anite-Uzoka.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga, said the nomination was conveyed to the Senate in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, seeking confirmation of the appointment.

Anite-Uzoka is to be redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio in the current administration.

Until his nomination, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system. An economist, accountant and public policy expert, the 50-year-old hails from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State.

Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

He spent 22 years at PwC, joining in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. Oyedele is also a professor at Babcock University and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
