Popular Oyo State–based media personality and philanthropist, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party.
Hamzat made the announcement on Saturday during a public declaration event attended by a large crowd of supporters.
The founder of Agidigbo FM stated that he would no longer campaign or mobilise support for other politicians ahead of the next general elections.
Speaking at the Liberty Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan, Hamzat said he had decided to pursue his political ambition independently, confirming that he would be contesting the governorship election under the Accord Party.
The declaration represents a significant shift in Hamzat’s political posture, as he has previously been known for supporting and mobilising crowds for other candidates during past elections.
Hamzat’s entry into the race comes as political activities begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections in Nigeria.
