Sanwo-Olu Honours Senator Raji-Rasaki’s Platinum Jubilee, Describes Her As ‘A Jewel’
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated former First Lady of Ogun, Ondo and Lagos States, Senator Fatimat Raji-Rasaki, on the occasion of her 70th birthday.
Senator Raji-Rasaki, wife of former Military Governor of Ogun, Ondo and Lagos States, Brigadier-General Raji Rasaki (rtd), clocks 70 on Tuesday, January 13.
She is a former Senator who represented Ekiti Central Senatorial District in the Eighth National Assembly and served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also congratulated the former federal lawmaker and her husband on their 50th wedding anniversary, describing five decades of marriage as a milestone worthy of celebration.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, the governor commended Senator Raji-Rasaki for her advocacy on gender issues, grassroots politics and her commitment to women’s empowerment and development policies during her time in the National Assembly.
He said, “On behalf of my adorable wife, Ibijoke, the government and the people of Lagos State, I heartily congratulate Senator Fatimat Raji-Rasaki, wife of former Military Governor of Ogun, Ondo and Lagos States, Brigadier-General Raji Rasaki (rtd), on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee celebration and 50th wedding anniversary.
“Senator Raji-Rasaki attaining the age of 70 in grace and elegance is worth celebrating because of the many positive impacts she made in Lagos State during her tenure as First Lady. She is a caring, loving and supportive wife and mother.
“As a federal lawmaker, she impacted and transformed lives in Ekiti State and Nigeria at large. She sponsored several significant bills, including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Bill and amendments to the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA). She has remained committed to humanitarian service and community development through empowerment programmes for widows, students and local investors.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu prayed for continued good health and joy for Senator Raji-Rasaki, adding that she would be strengthened to render more service to humanity.
He also congratulated Brigadier-General Raji Rasaki (rtd) for witnessing the milestone, describing his wife as “a jewel of inestimable value.”
