The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday said the state government would commission several landmark projects in 2026. He made this known at the 2026 Lagos Annual Thanksgiving Service held at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island.
Sanwo-Olu described 2026 as a significant year, noting that it would be his last full year in office. He said the period had compelled him to act deliberately to ensure meaningful impact for residents of the state.
“The year 2026 is particularly significant for me, as it marks my last full year as Governor of Lagos State. For this reason, I am deeply driven and compelled to make this year count—deliberately and decisively,” he said.
According to the governor, 2026 would be a year of extraordinary meaning and benefit for Lagosians, as several major projects would be completed and commissioned across critical sectors.
The projects include the Ojo General Hospital, the Odo Iya-Alaro Link Bridge, the new Massey Children’s Hospital, the Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub in Epe, the Psychiatric Hospital in Ketu Ereyun, Epe, and a new multi-storey office complex in Alausa.
On road infrastructure, Sanwo-Olu said multiple projects would be completed statewide, including the Igbogbo–Bola Ahmed Tinubu–Igbe Road; Agric Isawo–Konu–Arepo Road (Phase One); Gberigbe Road from Ewu Elepe to Gberigbe Town; and the Adamo–Akanun–Agunfoye–Lugbusi Road in Ikorodu.
He added that the Opebi–Mende Link Bridge and its approach roads in Ikeja, as well as Phase 2A of the Eti-Osa/Lekki/Epe Expressway from Eleko Junction through Awoyaya to Greensprings and from Majek to Abraham Adesanya, would also be commissioned.
Other projects include the Magbon–Alade township roads in Ibeju-Lekki and the Ijegun–Ijagemo and Akesan–Igando roads in Alimosho. Sanwo-Olu said the projects would be funded through the 2026 budget before the House of Assembly, the final budget of his administration, anchored on four pillars and an expenditure profile exceeding four trillion naira, aimed at delivering a cleaner, safer and more inclusive Lagos.
