The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended Christmas greetings to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, describing the 2025 festive season as a moment to reflect on national resilience despite economic and security challenges.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s spokesman, Mr. Seye Oladejo, the APC said Christmas 2025 finds Nigeria “tested, pressured, yet unbroken,” noting that the outgoing year demanded sacrifice, patience and resilience from both citizens and leadership.
Oladejo acknowledged that the year was marked by difficult but necessary transitions, including economic recalibration, security pressures, global economic headwinds and inherited structural challenges. He said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not shy away from these realities but confronted them directly.
According to the statement, predictions by opposition elements and critics that the country would slide into anarchy, famine, mass unrest or state collapse failed to materialise. The APC accused some opposition figures of engaging in what it described as exaggerated narratives and deliberate attempts to demarket Nigeria internationally in pursuit of political advantage.
“Despite the pressures, Nigeria refused to break. Our institutions held, our democracy endured, and the economy showed early signs of stabilisation and recovery,” the statement said, adding that security agencies also recorded strategic gains in spite of challenges.
The ruling party described the Christmas season as not only a celebration of faith, but also a celebration of national resilience, stressing that Nigeria had once again demonstrated its capacity to endure and overcome adversity.
The APC reaffirmed that President Tinubu’s administration remains focused on governance and structural reforms, noting that while such reforms are often painful, they are necessary for long-term national progress.
The party urged Nigerians to use the festive season to reject cynicism and despair, recommit to nation-building, and place patriotism above partisan interests.
The Lagos APC concluded by wishing Nigerians a Merry Christmas and expressing optimism that a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria lies ahead.
