Grassroots Governance: Abiodun Hands Over SUVs To Ogun Council Chairmen

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to effective grassroots governance with the presentation of Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to chairmen of the 20 local government areas in Ogun State.
According to the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Emmanuel Ojo on his facebook page, the presentation took place in Abeokuta as part of activities marking the Christmas season.
He described it as the fulfilment of the governor’s pledge to equip local councils with the tools required for efficient operations and closer engagement with residents.
Speaking through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, the governor commended the council chairmen for their efforts in delivering dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
He emphasised that strong collaboration between the state and local governments is critical to improving the welfare and quality of life of the people.
Hamzat noted that the vehicles would enhance mobility and enable council chairmen to respond more effectively to the needs of their communities, particularly in rural areas.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ogun State chapter, Dr. (Mrs.) Afolasade Adeyemo, expressed appreciation to Governor Abiodun, describing the gesture as timely and commendable.
She said the SUVs would significantly improve access to rural communities and strengthen service delivery at the local government level.
Adeyemo also commended the governor’s achievements in key sectors, including education, housing, healthcare and road infrastructure, and reaffirmed the support of local government chairmen for the administration’s development agenda.
