Edo Targets Sustainable Housing, Urban Growth Through Stakeholder Collaboration
As part of efforts to advance affordable housing delivery, urban renewal and sustainable development, the Edo State Ministry of Lands and Housing has called for strategic partnerships with the Federal Government and other critical stakeholders.
The call was made by the Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Yakubu Musa (JP), while receiving a delegation from the Edo Real Estate Community (EREC) at the ministry’s headquarters in Benin City. The delegation was at the ministry to congratulate the commissioner on his recent appointment.
Musa said the ministry is fully aligned with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, which prioritises social welfare, housing development, infrastructure expansion and economic growth. He disclosed that concrete plans are already underway to reposition the lands and housing sector as a key driver of development in Edo State.
According to the commissioner, collaboration with relevant stakeholders is essential to achieving sustainable housing solutions, strengthening land administration, and creating an enabling environment that attracts investment, supports orderly urban planning and promotes inclusive growth.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Chancellor of EREC, Mr. Edokpolo Aiyamenkhue, expressed confidence in the state government’s renewed drive to reform and strengthen the lands and housing sector. He described Hon. Musa’s appointment as a positive signal towards improved land administration and accelerated housing development in the state.
The meeting was attended by top management staff of the ministry and members of the Edo Real Estate Community, who expressed optimism about the emergence of a more transparent, efficient and investor-friendly lands and housing sector in Edo State.
