LASU VC Olatunji-Bello, Husband To Receive Top UI Alumni Honours In Abuja

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, and her husband, Hon. Tunji Bello, are set to be honoured with prestigious awards by the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) Worldwide at the 2025 Alumni Honours and Awards Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, in Abuja.
Professor Olatunji-Bello has been nominated for the Worthy Ambassador Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership, exceptional service, and significant contributions to academic excellence and institutional development since assuming office as LASU Vice-Chancellor in 2021. The award celebrates alumni who exemplify purposeful leadership and have made impactful contributions to national development and higher education in Nigeria.
Her husband, Hon. Tunji Bello, will receive the Meritorious Service Award for his exemplary leadership and dedication to public service. His distinguished public career spans roles including Lagos State Commissioner, former Secretary to the Lagos State Government, and his current position as Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC). The award acknowledges his commitment to public accountability, institutional strengthening, and governance transparency.
The ceremony will be chaired by His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto, and will feature special honourees such as the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, among other distinguished leaders.
