Edo Govt Moves To Curb Crude Oil Bunkering, Strengthen Security Around Installations
Edo State Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources, Vincent Osa-Uwadiae, has assured stakeholders that the state government will provide the necessary security support to combat crude oil bunkering, which has continued to undermine optimal production in the sector.
Speaking during a meeting with major players in the oil and gas industry at his office in Benin City, the commissioner acknowledged the government’s awareness of the challenges and pledged strengthened security interventions around oil installations.
He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to improving production as outlined in Governor Monday Okpebholo’s SHINE agenda.
Osa-Uwadiae also sought stronger collaboration with stakeholders to boost oil output in the state.
He emphasised the importance of full compliance with the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and provided an opportunity for companies to outline their operations and concerns to enhance mutual understanding.
In his closing remarks, the commissioner appreciated the stakeholders for attending the meeting, describing it as a strategic partnership aimed at fostering progress, improving relations with the government, and ultimately increasing productivity in oil-producing communities.
Also speaking at the engagement, the Human Resources Manager of Dubril Oil Corporation Ltd., Mrs. Amokhai Esohe, commended the Edo State Government for ongoing efforts in the sector and encouraged continuous improvement.
Companies present included Dubril Oil Corporation Ltd. and Pan Ocean Oil Corporation.
