Edo Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Durable Roads, Tasks Contractors on Quality Delivery

The Edo State Commissioner for Works, Dr. Felix Akhabue has reassured that all classes of roads across the state will be attended to, reiterating the government’s commitment towards providing durable roads to improve interconnectivity and boost economic activities across the state.
The commissioner gave the assurance this during a meeting with contractors handling various road projects across the state. The engagement which held at the ministry’s corporate office in Benin city, was part of measures by the commissioner to familiarize himself with the contractors and proffer solutions to challenges being encountered in the course of job execution across the state.
During the engagement, Dr. Akhabue, stressed the need for cooperation between the ministry and the contractors to deliver road projects, urging contractors to ensure timely delivery of quality jobs with reference to standard specifications for the project completion.
Reiterating the governor’s desire to fulfill his promises to residents of the state, he beseeched all contractors to intensify their teamwork in facilitating the project, to ensure its timely delivery to the people.
Earlier speaking at the meeting, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. John Obanor, stated that the commissioner’s experience would enable the ministry to optimally achieve its directive of building durable roads to boost economic activities in the state.
The contractors assured their readiness to work with the ministry to deliver quality work in line with the government approved standards, while appreciating the commissioner’s stride towards strengthening their relationship with his office.
