The governor of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged more investment in infrastructure across tertiary institutions in the state, commending the student leaders for their responsible conduct on campuses.
Aiyedatiwa who made the pledge and commendation while receiving student representatives in Akure on Tuesday, confirmed that there had been no reports of unrest or violence within the student community since he assumed office, a development he credited to their discipline and constructive engagement.
As part of his administration’s commitment to student welfare, Aiyedatiwa announced the approval of five new buses for student bodies across tertiary institutions in the state, promising youth development through scholarships, grants and other financial interventions.
He reiterated his administration’s renewed focus on technical and vocational education, stating that it is crucial to industrial growth and job creation.
The governor also pledged to resolve the electricity supply challenges at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), assuring that the issue would be addressed promptly to enhance academic and research productivity.
Aiyedatiwa stressed the need for collaboration to address accommodation challenges faced by students, calling on private investors to build hostels within and around campuses to complement government efforts and enhance student security.
While speaking on infrastructure, the Governor highlighted ongoing and completed projects across the state, including the reconstruction of the Akungba–Ikare road. He explained that the project was initiated to curb frequent accidents in the area and stimulate local trade.
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs, Comrade Kelvin Solomon Olaolu (KSO), appreciated the governor’s leadership and unwavering support for the student community.
