Lagos Appoints 27 New Principals To Strengthen School Leadership

The Lagos State Government has approved the appointment of 27 new principals across public secondary schools in Education District III, as part of efforts to strengthen school leadership and improve academic standards.

Letters of appointment were formally presented on Monday at the district headquarters in Falomo, Ikoyi, by the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of the District, Dr. Idowu Olufunke Oyetola.

Dr. Oyetola congratulated the new appointees and pledged her full support throughout their tenure. She, however, reminded them that the role carries significant responsibilities and requires flexibility.

“This is not just a title; it is a call to service. Many of you will be posted outside your current stations. Leadership demands readiness to move beyond your comfort zones whenever duty calls,” she said.

She urged the principals to prioritise discipline, innovation, and community engagement within their schools, assuring them that the district would provide the necessary resources and monitoring to help them succeed.

The newly appointed principals are expected to assume duty immediately. An induction and leadership workshop has been scheduled to familiarise them with the district’s performance targets, reporting procedures, and welfare policies.

Some of the appointees expressed gratitude for the opportunity and promised to justify the government’s confidence in them.
