Lagos Council Chairman Advocates For Somolu Youth Inclusion In NDE Programmes

The Chairman of Somolu Local Government in Lagos State, Lateef Ashimi, has advocated for the inclusion of the local youths in the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) programmes.

Ashimi made the request when he met with officials from the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) to address the exclusion of local youth from their skills acquisition programmes.

The Council Chairman lamented that many young people in Somolu have lost confidence in these initiatives, which are designed to provide essential skills and tools for career development.

Responding, the NDE delegation, led by Mr. Rufus Ogundemi, attributed past issues to a change in leadership and ineffective communication.

Ogundemi confirmed that the directorate has since revitalized its registration process and making a broader effort to reach the public.

He assured the Chairman that the NDE has retained the details of the previous and current applicants.

Ogundemi sought the local government’s cooperation in providing a suitable space for another exercise in the coming weeks, saying that the programmes would be adequately monitored.

The Council Chairman, accompanied by the Head of Department for Agriculture and Social Services, Mr. Ajigboye Obafemi Adebayo, agreed to the request.
