Lagos APC Berates Aregbesola Over Remarks During ADC Membership Mobilisation Flag Off

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola over his remarks during the African Democratic Congress (ADC) membership mobilisation flag off in Kosofe local government area.

It would be recalled that Aregbesola with some leaders of the Lagos ADC kicked off the membership mobilisation drive on Wednesday, accusing the APC, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), of failing Nigerians.

Aregbesola canvassed support for the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

However, in a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the Lagos APC, Seye Oladejo, the party described Aregbesola’s remarks as “disappointing” and a “betrayal of trust,” accusing him of political desperation disguised as a call for change.

“It is ironic that a man who benefited from the goodwill and platform of the APC for over two decades from his days as Commissioner in Lagos to Governor of Osun and later a Federal Minister now denounces the same party,” the statement read.

“If the APC has failed, then Aregbesola must take responsibility for his role in governance instead of seeking cheap political relevance.”

Lagos APC dismissed ADC’s proposed “new deal” as “recycled rhetoric” without a proven track record, ideology, or cohesive leadership, insisting that Lagos remains a “shining example” of progressive governance in infrastructure, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and technology-driven reforms.

The party further stressed that while political ambition is legitimate, it must be pursued with loyalty and integrity, adding “Politics without gratitude is a dangerous path that leads to irrelevance”.

While reaffirming its focus ahead of 2027, the party maintained that it is “united, focused, and determined” to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to Lagos residents, rejecting “falsehoods and political showmanship” aimed at misleading the public.
