Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA Chairman, Ajala inaugurates BAT Legacy Building, 4 other projects
As part of the activities marking the end of his 8 years in office, the Chairman of the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA in Lagos State, Rasaq Ajala, on Friday inaugurated 5 projects including an iconic Bola Ahmed Tinubu Legacy Building.
The building, according to the Council Chairman, would create conducive working environment for staff and enhance productivity and performance.
Speaking during the official commissioning at the Council Secretariat, Ajala explained that the project was solely built by the LCDA without external support, adding that the building would generate and improve Internally Generated Revenues (IGRs) and enable future administrations to develop the community.
Part of the projects inaugurated are; Jude Sanwo-Olu Football Arena, 9.2km road, 9 Solar Power Cubicles for charging phones, laptops and POS machines, and donation of 13 vehicles to accredited stakeholders.
Ajala added that over the past eight years, his administration had fulfilled campaign promises in various areas of development including Infrastructural development, social intervention, sports, women and youth development, education and capacity building, health and environment, and security and governance.
He said ” We’ve also launched the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Transportation and Environmental Corps (OTEC) aimed at maintaining a clean environment and enforcing traffic rules. With the employment of Road Managers and Traffic Corps members. We are confident of a cleaner and more motorable experience for our people. The procurement of two compactors will enhance waste disposal and management, potentially generating income through recycling”.
The inauguration was witnessed by Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun, Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, ex-Lagos APC Chairman, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, Otunba Femi Pedro (GAC member), Senator Ganiyu Solomon (GAC member), former Lagos Speaker, Rt (Hon) Adeyemi Ikuforiji, Lagos West APC Apex leader, Rabiu Oluwa and many leaders of the Lagos APC.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat who represented the governor of the State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed satisfaction with the projects and development of the Council, saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) does not regret fielding the Council Chairman 8 years ago.
Hamzat charged the APC members to ensure they deliver their polling units with huge votes in 2027.
He stated that some states in the country have not achieved what the Council chairman achieved within 8 years.
Speaking on national development, Hamzat said the people are excited with the development of the country, stating that the economy under President Bola Tinubu had experienced tremendous growth.
