The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has issued notice of election ahead of the July 12 council polls in the State.
A statement posted on its facebook page and signed by its Chairman, Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (Rtd), disclosed that the elections for chairmanship position would hold in 20 local governments and 37 local council development areas.
It added that Councillorship elections would be held in 376 electoral wards across the State.
LASIEC said “In accordance with Section 41(1) of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission Law, 2008 (as amended), notice is hereby given that elections into the offices of Chairmen of the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas, as well as Councillors for the 376 Electoral Wards of Lagos State”.
“Elections shall be held on: Saturday, 12th July 2025. Polling will commence at 8:00 a.m. Polling will close at 3:00 p.m.
“Each voter shall cast his/her vote at the Polling Unit where he/she is registered.
“Only persons whose names appear on the Voters Register are eligible to vote in the election”, said LASIEC.
