.. donates ICT centre to alma mater in Mushin

…urges parents to support technological skills acquisition

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has called on parents to encourage their children to acquire technological skills, stressing that students must adapt to remain competitive globally.

Hamzat made the call on Friday during the handover ceremony of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre he donated to his alma mater, Odo Abore Primary School, Iyalla Street, Mushin, as part of activities marking his 61st birthday.

He emphasized the importance of technology and artificial intelligence in modern education and announced plans to build another ICT centre in Odi-Olowo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

Hamzat recalled that he had promised the donation during the school’s 80th anniversary celebration, noting that ICT played a pivotal role in his education and career development.

Speaking at the event, Member of the House of Representatives for Mushin 1 Federal Constituency, Hon. Toyin Fayinka, commended the Deputy Governor for giving back to his community and urged pupils and teachers to make full use of the facility.

Also, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Senator Ganiyu Solomon, described the project as a privilege for Mushin. He praised Hamzat for prioritising his community, saying, “Whatever he does, he starts from home. He has done this, and we appreciate it.”

Solomon assured the Deputy Governor that the ICT centre would be used effectively to train pupils in technological skills.

The ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, youth and women’s groups, Chairman of Odi-Olowo LCDA, Seyi Jakande, Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Tunbosun Aruwe, and former Chairman of Odi-Olowo LCDA, Rasaq Ajala.

Other dignitaries present included Hon. Nureni Akinsanya (Mushin 1), Hon. Olayinka Esho (Mushin 2), former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Funmi Tejuosho, Lagos APC Spokesman, Seye Oladejo, and Lagos APC Youth Leader, Dr. Muritala.
