The Lagos State Environmental Task Force, popularly known as Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI), on Monday dislodged illegal street traders at 2nd Rainbow Junction, inward Mile 2, as part of efforts to restore order on major roads.
Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the operation on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, reaffirming the government’s commitment to clearing environmental infractions across the state.
In a viral video shared by the Commissioner, enforcement officers were seen removing traders whose activities had obstructed traffic flow, endangered pedestrians and littered the environment.
The Lagos State Government has intensified its clampdown on street trading and other environmental offences, insisting that such measures are necessary to safeguard lives, reduce congestion and promote a cleaner city.
“Our enforcement team is currently dislodging illegal street traders constituting nuisance at 2nd Rainbow Junction, inward Mile 2. These activities obstruct traffic flow, endanger pedestrians, and litter the environment,” Wahab said.
“We remain committed to keeping our roads safe, clean and free of all forms of environmental infractions,” the Commissioner stated.
