The Chairman of the Edo State Board for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (BTVET), Barrister (Mrs.) Onomen Briggs, has commended the launch of Betaawork, a digital job-matching and workforce development platform designed to connect skilled professionals with verified job and service opportunities.
Speaking at the official launch held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, Briggs described the initiative as a major step toward bridging the gap between skills acquisition and employment.
She noted that platforms like Betaawork demonstrate how technology can effectively link training to employment by connecting skilled professionals with real opportunities, adding that such innovations are crucial for building a productive workforce and empowering citizens.
Briggs also stated that the platform aligns with the SHINE Agenda of the Edo State Government, particularly in advancing human capital development, job creation, and economic empowerment.
The BTVET chairman further commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for creating an enabling environment that allows private enterprises and organisations such as Genius Hub to thrive and contribute meaningfully to skills development and economic growth.
She also praised Genius Hub, a certified Technical and Vocational Education and Training centre recognised by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), for empowering thousands of young people through skills development programmes.
Founder of Genius Hub, Isimeme Whyte, expressed appreciation to members of the organisation for their dedication in bringing the Betaawork platform to life, noting that the initiative seeks to promote dignified employment by linking skilled professionals with credible opportunities.
In his keynote address, the Nigeria Country Lead for the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, Amarachi Kalu, highlighted the importance of digital platforms in expanding access to jobs and strengthening youth employment initiatives, while the event also featured the unveiling of the Betaawork platform, panel discussions, demonstrations, and stakeholder engagements.
