Sola Giwa has resigned from his position as Special Adviser on Transportation to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, citing a decision to pursue elective office.
Giwa announced his resignation on Wednesday via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that he stepped down from the role a day earlier after what he described as “deep reflection and wide consultations.”
“It has been an honor to serve and contribute to the transformation of our transport system under the THEMES+ Agenda. I remain grateful to Mr. Governor for the trust and opportunity,” he wrote.
The former aide disclosed that he is seeking to represent Lagos Island Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives, describing the move as a “higher call” to serve the people.
According to him, his ambition is driven by a desire to provide stronger representation, pursue purposeful legislation, and deliver tangible impact for constituents.
Giwa played a key role in the state’s transportation reforms during his tenure, which formed part of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s THEMES+ development agenda.
He added that his resignation marks the beginning of a new chapter in his public service journey, noting that “the journey continues.”
