The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, is expected to tender his resignation on Friday, party sources have confirmed.
Multiple sources within the APC revealed that Ganduje is under pressure to step down due to mounting internal tensions and dissatisfaction over his handling of key party affairs, particularly following the recent North East stakeholders’ meeting.
The meeting, which endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, has reportedly caused friction within the party — especially among governors and allies of Vice President Kashim Shettima.
According to reports, Ganduje failed to mention the Vice President as a potential running mate, fueling speculation of a rift and generating resentment among some Northern stakeholders.
Consequently, insiders say Ganduje is being blamed for what some party members described as the “poorly managed” meeting, which has created discontent within the party and strained relationships with the presidency.
A source said the former Kano State governor is expected to submit his resignation letter on Friday and hand over the party’s leadership to the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, in an acting capacity.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by the APC or Ganduje’s office.
