The Provost of the Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), Prof. Raheem Akewushola, has reiterated the institution’s zero tolerance for misconduct, warning that any violation of the College’s Code of Conduct will attract appropriate disciplinary action.
He made this known during the orientation programme for newly admitted students of the College for the 2025/2026 academic session, where he urged fresh students to renew their mindsets and embrace the discipline, values and attitudes required for academic excellence and professional growth.
Addressing the students, Prof. Akewushola encouraged them to adopt positive thinking, believe in their abilities and align their conduct with the ethical standards expected of future healthcare professionals. He explained that the orientation programme was designed to familiarise students with the College’s rules, expectations and institutional culture, thereby enabling them to begin their academic journey on the right footing.
The Provost further advised the students to cultivate a strong work ethic from the onset, shun all forms of misconduct, ensure timely payment of fees, complete course registration as required, and maintain punctuality in their academic activities.
Also speaking at the event, the Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor on Students’ Affairs (Tertiary Education), Samuel Kappo, cautioned students against drug abuse, examination malpractice and other acts of indiscipline capable of jeopardising their future.
He stressed the importance of discipline as a guiding principle, noting that the reputation and safety of the College are a shared responsibility between students and management. He also urged students to promptly report any suspicious activities or misconduct to the appropriate authorities.
In a related address, the Provost of De-Potter College of Health Technology, Ogun State, Dr. Oluwaseyi Gabriel Adeware, advised the students to value the opportunity of gaining admission into the institution, describing it as a significant step toward becoming competent and distinguished healthcare practitioners.
