Female Councillor Dies In Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA After Brief Illness

 

A female councillor in Odi-Olowo/ Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, Zainab Kosoko Shotayo, has died after brief illness.

Shotayo who died at age 30 was the only female and youngest councillor in the Council.

Until her death, she was the Chief Whip of the Odi Olowo Ojuwoye Legislative Arm, and also represented Ward C3.

In honour of her memory, Chairman of the Council, Seyi Jakande, has directed that all activities at the council’s ICT workstations be suspended for the day.

The directive, according to the chairman, is a mark of respect for the late councillor, whose contributions to community development left a lasting impact.

It would be recalled that few weeks ago, another female councillor Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Oluwakemi Rufai pronounced dead.

Rufai, who represented Ward C1, died in the early hours of Wednesday, August 13, 2025, barely two weeks after being sworn into office.
