CAF Shuts Guinea Bissau Stadium Over Poor Pitch

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has banned the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau from hosting further matches due to the extremely poor and waterlogged condition of its pitch.
The decision followed strong criticism and complaints from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Super Eagles players over the substandard and uneven playing surface during their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Guinea-Bissau.
CAF also issued an official apology to Nigeria, explaining that the pitch had deteriorated significantly and was no longer in the condition it was when it was initially inspected and approved.
Guinea-Bissau must now find an alternative CAF-approved venue outside the country for its remaining home qualifying fixtures, having previously used Morocco as an alternative home ground.
