Lagos Trains 600 Traders, Artisans on Digital Marketing For Global Reach

The Lagos State Government has commenced a three-day digital marketing training for 600 market traders, small business owners, young adults and artisans to help them expand their businesses beyond local markets.

The programme, organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, is being held at the Women Development Centre, Agege, under the theme, “From Local Business to Global Market: Leveraging Digital Marketing for Business Growth.”

Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, said digital platforms had transformed the way businesses reach customers, urging participants to apply the skills acquired to grow their businesses.

Dada also announced that participants would receive Android phones at the end of the training, while transportation stipends would be provided for the first two days.

Facilitators from Liquid Luck Consulting trained participants on WhatsApp Business, competitor analysis, online catalogues, customer engagement, financial management and online security. They also taught participants how to identify fake payment alerts and separate business finances from personal funds.

The programme also featured sessions on domestic violence, skills acquisition and healthy nutrition, while participants were introduced to the ministry’s 19 skills acquisition centres.

One of the beneficiaries, Taiwo Halimat Shadia from Alimosho, commended the initiative, saying she had already gained two followers for her business through a digital platform introduced during the training.
