Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final after defeating Bayern Munich to set up a showdown with Arsenal.
Unlike the thrilling first-leg encounter in Paris, where Luis Enrique’s side claimed a 5-4 aggregate advantage, the second leg at the Allianz Arena was more tactical but still packed with quality moments.
PSG struck early as Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia produced a brilliant run and cross for Ousmane Dembele, who fired home emphatically after just three minutes.
Bayern pushed for a response in front of their home fans, but Harry Kane was largely contained by the visitors’ defence.
The German champions believed they should have been awarded a first-half penalty after a clearance struck Joao Neves on the arm inside the box. However, officials ruled that no penalty could be given because the ball had come directly off a teammate.
PSG continued to create the clearer chances after the break, with Desire Doue going close on multiple occasions, while Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer produced several fine saves to keep his side in contention.
Kane eventually found the net deep into stoppage time for his 55th goal of the season, but it proved too late to spark a comeback as Vincent Kompany’s side bowed out.
PSG will now face Arsenal in the Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday, May 30.
