President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting with members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting, which began around 2:30 p.m., brought together top Lagos APC stakeholders in what is widely seen as part of ongoing consultations over the state’s 2027 political succession and internal party alignment.
Although official details of the discussions were not disclosed at the time of filing this report, the engagement comes amid growing political momentum within the Lagos APC, where the GAC has already endorsed Deputy Governor Hamzat as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship race.
The influential council, regarded as the highest decision-making advisory body of the party in Lagos, recently backed Hamzat following internal consultations and party-wide consensus-building efforts.
The endorsement is also understood to have received the support of Governor Sanwo-Olu, further strengthening Hamzat’s position as the party’s preferred successor in the state.
