The Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) on Tuesday endorsed Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat as the consensus candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Lagos State.
The endorsement was announced by the Chairman of the GAC, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, following a meeting held in Marina.
Olusi disclosed that members of the council collectively agreed to support Hamzat’s emergence and had resolved to levy themselves to purchase his nomination form.
He added that the decision reflects the council’s confidence in Hamzat’s leadership capacity and continuity agenda for the state.
Speaking at the meeting, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu confirmed that arrangements had already been made for the procurement of nomination forms.
According to the governor, a representative has been sent to Abuja to obtain the forms for both Hamzat.
Sanwo-Olu further noted that the GAC members contributed funds among themselves to facilitate the purchase of the forms, demonstrating unity and commitment within the party ranks.
The development signals a major step in the build-up to the APC governorship primary in Lagos State.
