A two-time commissioner and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alimosho Federal Constituency in Lagos State, Pharm. (Mrs) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, has declared her intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general election.
Akinbile-Yussuf, who served in various capacities as Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Wealth Creation and Employment, Home Affairs, and Tourism, Arts and Culture between 2015 and 2023, announced her ambition shortly after concluding strategic consultations with party leaders and key stakeholders in the constituency.
She said her decision to join the race was driven by a desire to advocate for increased socio-economic interventions from the federal government to improve the living conditions of residents in Alimosho Federal Constituency, Lagos.
The former commissioner stated that, having consulted widely with stakeholders, party leaders, community groups, and respected elders across the constituency, she received overwhelming encouragement and the backing of the people to seek their mandate under the APC in the upcoming primaries.
She expressed confidence that the APC primaries would be free, fair, and credible, adding that she trusts the will of the people to prevail in choosing a candidate who truly represents their aspirations. She also pledged unwavering loyalty, commitment, and dedication to the people of the constituency.
Akinbile-Yussuf said that, if given the opportunity to serve, she would champion purposeful representation anchored on youth empowerment, infrastructure development, women inclusion, and sustainable community engagement, while delivering impactful and people-oriented leadership.
She assured residents that, if elected, they would experience greater impact, inclusive representation, and responsive leadership, noting that her previous record in public office has prepared her for the task ahead.
Highlighting her achievements, Akinbile-Yussuf said she facilitated several developmental projects across the constituency, including the Abesan Youth Centre, Okunola, key road infrastructure, the Igando Theatre, and other community-based interventions.
