The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, has inaugurated the Board of Advisers and the Organising Committee for the 2026 Lagos Physical Planning Summit (LPPS), formally kick-starting preparations for the next edition of the summit.

The inauguration was performed by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Oluyinka Olumide, at the ministry’s conference room in Alausa. He urged members of both bodies to intensify their efforts to ensure that the 2026 edition surpasses the achievements of the maiden summit.

Dr. Olumide noted that greater success brings greater responsibility, assuring the Board of Advisers of the ministry’s readiness to consider their professional input, meet expectations, and provide the necessary institutional support for a successful outing.

Speaking on behalf of the Board of Advisers, former Commissioner Tpl. Olutoyin Ayinde described the inaugural summit as a major success but stressed the need to sustain and exceed the standards already set through strategic planning and collaboration.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Physical Planning, Engr. Oluwole Sotire, called for strong cooperation between the advisory board and the organising committee, emphasising that teamwork and shared commitment would be crucial to achieving the summit’s objectives.

Chairman of the Organising Committee, Tpl. Risikat Bello, said the summit must move beyond policy discussions to practical implementation, positioning physical planning as a key driver of resilient, orderly and sustainable development in Lagos State.

She urged committee members to work with clear goals, defined timelines and measurable outcomes to ensure efficiency and accountability throughout the planning process.
