Oyo APC Assures Smooth E-Registration Exercise, Targets 350,000 Members

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured of a smooth and hitch-free membership registration exercise as it participates in the nationwide electronic registration of party members. Party leaders have expressed optimism that the exercise will record at least 350,000 registered members by its conclusion on January 30, 2026.

At the national level, the APC recently launched a fresh membership registration exercise across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. The electronic exercise is designed to capture the details of both existing and new members to enhance effective management, planning and strategic operations of the party.

In a statement issued on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo APC Publicity Secretary, Mr Olawale Sadare, commended party leaders and stakeholders for their efforts in overcoming initial challenges that threatened the smooth take-off of the exercise in the state.

Sadare explained that the Oyo chapter did not commence registration simultaneously with most other states due to logistical constraints, but said the challenges had since been resolved. He attributed the turnaround to the commitment and dedication of party members, noting that their enthusiasm had also been evident during the open-air stakeholders’ meetings held across the state’s 14 federal constituencies.

According to the statement, the party is confident of surpassing 350,000 registered members if the current momentum is sustained. Sadare said the exercise would significantly strengthen the party’s structure and positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He recalled that the APC secured 449,884 votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election in Oyo State, adding that the party aims to increase that figure by about 40 per cent in 2027 through effective mobilisation of its growing membership base.

Sadare stressed that the expanded membership would be strategically deployed to mobilise voters and reclaim political power in Oyo State in 2027, while also reinforcing the party’s commitment to the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Tinubu.

Residents across the 33 local government areas of the state were urged to participate actively in the exercise. The party advised eligible citizens aged 18 and above to visit designated registration centres with their National Identification Number (NIN), Permanent Voter Card (PVC) and other required personal information to ensure proper capture in the party’s database.

The APC noted that the registration exercise goes beyond increasing numbers, describing it as a demonstration of commitment, loyalty and readiness to participate in party activities at all levels, as well as a step towards strengthening the party’s capacity to deliver good governance and development across Oyo State and the country.
