The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) ushered in the New Year with a spiritually uplifting programme of praise, worship and reflection aimed at strengthening unity, moral discipline and institutional productivity.

The programme featured separate Christian and Muslim sessions in line with the Board’s inclusive culture and respect for religious diversity, while reinforcing a shared vision for purposeful service delivery in the year ahead.

The Christian session, led by Pastor Bimbo Atewologun and themed “Putting God First,” focused on praise and prayers, as staff sought divine guidance, wisdom and grace for a successful and impactful year, emphasising faith and dedication as foundations for growth.

The Muslim session, coordinated by Mr. Isiaq Zakariyau, centred on starting the year with thanksgiving, purpose, positivity and teamwork, highlighting discipline, unity and collective responsibility as essential values for achieving the Board’s mandate.

The Board Secretary, Mr. Hakeem Lamidi, expressed appreciation to staff and urged them to remain committed and diligent in their duties, charging them to uphold integrity, avoid factional politics and remain focused on the Board’s collective goals.

He further stressed the importance of mastering the act of timing, noting that efficiency, discretion and knowing when to act are critical to effective public service delivery.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, Dr. Hakeem Shittu, underscored the importance of teamwork as a cornerstone for institutional success, encouraging collaboration, mutual respect and commitment to self-development and career progression.

Dr. Shittu also reminded staff of the oath of secrecy and the need for professionalism, integrity, punctuality and productivity, noting that the New Year presents an opportunity for renewed focus, improved performance and greater impact, while assuring staff of the Board’s continued commitment to capacity building and institutional support.
