The Provost of the Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), Professor Raheem Olasupo Akewushola, has reiterated the institution’s zero-tolerance policy on examination malpractice, warning that any student found culpable will face appropriate sanctions.
He urged students to remain focused, disciplined and resilient in their academic pursuits.
Professor Akewushola gave the warning during the induction of newly admitted students into the various schools of the institution at its 26th Matriculation Ceremony.
In his welcome address, the provost congratulated the 768 matriculating students on their admission, describing it as a notable achievement in view of the competitive entrance examination and the large number of applicants.
He encouraged the students to approach their academic journey with determination and a renewed mindset, stressing that the path to success, particularly in the healthcare sector, demands diligence, caution and conscientiousness due to the responsibility involved in handling human lives.
In a goodwill message, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adeniran Kasali, charged the students to be worthy ambassadors of the college. He noted that LASCOHET ranks among the most sought-after health institutions in Nigeria because of its academic excellence, quality of teaching and the calibre of graduates it produces.
Kasali further encouraged the students to take advantage of the opportunities available in Lagos State, citing its security, functionality and productivity. He urged them to adhere strictly to institutional rules and guidance as they work towards becoming credible healthcare professionals.
In his closing remarks, Professor Akewushola wished the students success in their academic journey and advised them to uphold good character, remain resilient and shun all forms of immoral behaviour.
