Abiodun Preaches Vigilance, Unity At Ogun Christmas Carol Service

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has urged residents of the state to remain vigilant, security-conscious, and proactive during the yuletide season to ensure a peaceful, safe, and joyous celebration.

The governor also reminded the people that the true essence of Christmas lies in giving, selflessness, and service to humanity, stressing that the season goes beyond the profession of faith to living a Christ-like life marked by love, humility, and compassion.

Governor Abiodun made the call at the Christmas Carol and Service of Nine Lessons organised by the Ogun State Government at the Arcade Ground, Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He also conveyed the Christmas message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging Nigerians to embrace unity, compassion, and collective responsibility.

He described unity as one of Ogun State’s greatest strengths, noting that despite its diverse cultures and traditions, the state continues to enjoy peace and harmony. According to him, the peaceful coexistence of the people demonstrates that diversity, when properly harnessed, remains a catalyst for progress and development.

“As we celebrate this Christmas with our loved ones, let us remember the needy, comfort the lonely, and promote harmony in our communities. The message of Christ is universal, calling us to live in love, compassion, and unity,” the governor said.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming hope into opportunity and opportunity into shared prosperity in line with the Building Our Future Together agenda. He added that the government would continue to drive the ISEYA development pillars, with particular focus on equitable infrastructure development and sustained economic growth across the three senatorial districts.

He said the gift of Jesus Christ, though costly, is everlasting and available to all, irrespective of social status.

The service was attended by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Ogun State Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba, traditional rulers, captains of industry, and other dignitaries. The event featured soul-lifting renditions by gospel artistes, including Tope Alabi and Laolu Gbenjo, while the Nine Lessons were read by prominent state officials, traditional and religious leaders, and the governor, who delivered the ninth and final lesson.
