Obasa Endows Best Indigenous Movie (Yoruba) Category for 2025 BON Awards

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has endowed the coveted Best Indigenous Movie (Yoruba) category at the 2025 Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards scheduled for Sunday, December 14, at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts (formerly the National Arts Theatre), Iganmu, Lagos.

Founder of the BON Awards, Seun Oloketuyi, said Obasa’s gesture reflects his long-standing commitment to the promotion and preservation of the Yoruba language and culture through film.

“Rt. Hon. Obasa’s endowment underscores his passion for promoting the Yoruba language. He has consistently championed the preservation of our rich cultural narratives, and this support further reinforces that commitment,” Oloketuyi stated.

The 17th edition of the awards also enjoys strong backing from corporate sponsors. Addme has endowed the Best Actress of the Year category, while Indomie continues its tradition of supporting young talent through the Best Child Actor award.

Abundish, an agricultural produce wholesaler, is highlighting the importance of creative technical craft by endowing the Best Use of Food in a Movie category.

Oloketuyi noted that these endorsements provide vital resources and prestige to the categories, helping sustain the celebration of authentic storytelling and technical excellence across the industry.

“This year’s awards recognise Nollywood’s outstanding creative and technical talents while showcasing significant corporate and private support,” he said. “These endowments highlight the value placed on performance and the technical elements that bring our stories to life, strengthening partnerships between the film industry and high-profile organisations.”

The 2025 BON Awards will be hosted by the dynamic duo of Bukunmi ‘KieKie’ Adeaga-Ilori and Adams Ibrahim Adebola (VJ Adams). The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will serve as the Host Governor.

The ceremony is poised to deliver a spectacular celebration of cinematic excellence.
