2027: Eko United Launches ‘Progressive Lagos Initiative’, Backs Tinubu, Jandor

Eko United, a coalition of Lagos professionals and innovators, has launched the Progressive Lagos Initiative, a policy-focused platform aimed at increasing elite participation in governance and shaping the next phase of development in Lagos State.

The initiative was formally unveiled at a press conference in Lagos, chaired by Mr. Wole Olagundoye, with other key leaders of the group in attendance, including Dr. Idowu Agarawu, Mr. Ahmed Buhari, and Mrs. Aderonke Oyelakin.

According to Eko United, the Progressive Lagos Initiative will serve as a hub for technocrats, academics, and professionals to contribute ideas and policy reforms capable of addressing the growing complexities of a rapidly evolving Lagos. The group noted that while political participation has long been dominated by grassroots mobilization, the time has come for Lagos’ intellectual class to play a more influential role in shaping public policy.

The coalition also announced its unanimous endorsement of Olajide Adediran (JANDOR) as the preferred figure to lead Lagos into a new era of development, describing him as a data-driven, pragmatic, and unifying leader.

They added that JANDOR accepted the role on the condition that the Progressive Lagos Initiative would support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid and maintain loyalty to the APC, regardless of the outcome of the party’s governorship primaries.

Eko United emphasized that the engagement is not a political campaign, as INEC has yet to lift the ban on 2027 campaign activities, but rather an effort to mobilize professionals toward active civic participation.

The group encouraged Lagos professionals to join the Progressive Lagos Initiative and contribute ideas through the platform, which aims to build a smarter, more competitive, and innovation-driven Lagos.
